(I won’t be posting a Throwback Thursday this week, just because of how the end-of-month timeline falls.)
Anyway, this was a difficult month for me personally, and so as usual, I found refuge in music. One of my all-time favorite songs, “Southern Cross,” appears here, along with “Come Healing” by Leonard Cohen; the latter is, well, healing. “Big Big World” is a song by Swedish artist Emilia. It’s pretty mournful, but then again, that was the mood this month. Continuing the theme, we have “Pale Blue Eyes” by the Velvet Underground. It’s rock classic; slow and methodical, it also features amazing lyrics.
There are a few songs on here that change things up: the Jesus and Mary Chain’s cover of “Surfin’ USA.” I did a post on that cover a few weeks ago. I was also listening to Billy Joel a lot during work, and so I picked one of my favorites, “Only the Good Die Young,” to add.
